Hi! We put together this site to help keep in touch with our family and friends. We have an area where we can chat about what is going on with us personally and air our opinions on various subjects. We also keep a photo album online so we can share pictures of our adventures.

    One thing that was especially important to us when we built this site was that we encourage everyone to share what is going on with there lives as well, via the journal and the photo album.

   So, the final question, why hobbitsholiday.com?

   Most of the world has now either read or seen The Lord of the Rings and now know what a hobbit is, which is a good start.

   The story of Middle Earth actually starts with Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of the series, wrote The Hobbit as Bilbo's journal of his adventure to burgle the treasure of a great dragon named Smaug. Frodo and eventually Samwise finished the book after their journey to destroy the Ring of Doom.

   Bilbo named this book There and Back Again, A Hobbit's Holiday. As this is a collection of stories about our adventures, and the fact that we both have hairy feet, there was no better name than hobbitsholiday.com!
